Megala Chorafia is a scenic traditional village in Apokoronas region, a beautiful green countryside, situated next to the National Road and quite near the sea, the beach of Kalyves being just 3 kilometers away. Next to Megala Chorafia is Aptera, an ancient city, now an archaeological area. Aptera was one of the most important city-states of Crete. The site offers breath-taking views of Souda Bay and the Akrotiri Peninsula, and the Turkish Izzedin Castle, the Lefka Ori (White Mountains) and the Aegean Sea, and even Kalives.
